Donna’s Baked Broccoli and Ginger

This simple easy to make dish has a great combination of flavors and textures, with the Asian flair from the sesame oil the crunch from the broccoli and the pungent spice from the ginger. Ginger root helps to warm the stomach and spleen, improves digestion and appetite, relieves nausea, gas, and cold conditions. Broccoli is a member of the cruciferous family of vegetables, it deserves a regular rotation in your diet, as it contains an impressive array of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other phytochemicals. Serves 1-2.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Cups of broccoli
  • 1 two-inch piece of ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 1 shallot
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds

Directions:

  1. Cut the broccoli in to small pieces
  2. Chop the shallot, garlic and ginger into small pieces
  3. Place all ingredients on a baking sheet lightly brushed with sesame oil
  4. Drizzle with sesame oil a pinch of sea salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cook at 350 for 15-20 minutes until the vegetables are at your desired texture
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds (optional).

  • 1 shallot (any onion)
  • 1 clove of garlic
