Donna’s Breakfast Oats with Blueberries

Having oatmeal for breakfast is a good idea if you need some extra strength and energy to get you through a hectic morning or through a good workout. Oatmeal is an easy quick way to get long-lasting energy for your workout. Oats contain a specific type of fiber that has been known to lower cholesterol levels. Oats are an excellent source of manganese and a good source of phosphorus as well as copper, biotin, vitamin B1, magnesium, dietary fiber, chromium, zinc, and protein.

Adding blueberries to your oatmeal will hit the bloodstream quickly to you get you moving right away. These little gems have flavors that range from mildly sweet to tart and tangy. Blueberries burst with nutrition and flavor while being very low in calories. They are repeatedly ranked in the U.S. diet as having one of the highest antioxidant capacities among all fruits and low in sugar. Serves 1.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of oatmeal
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • ½ cup of blueberries

Directions:

  1. Bring milk to a boil, stir in oats and simmer for a few minutes
  2. Garnish with blueberries
