Donna’s Spinach-Pear-Mint Smoothie

Turn this great tasting drink into a power-house breakfast smoothie. The combo of the pear and mint are so refreshing. But there is so much more to mint than its cool minty flavor. It’s great in beverages, especially in teas. Its medicinal effect on stomach conditions makes it one of the best herbs available. Nutritionally, peppermint provides the following nutrients: calcium, copper, folate, iron, niacin, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin A, vitamin C, and zinc. By adding the chia, hemp and protein powder this will give you what you need for a complete breakfast. Serves 1.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 pear
  • ½ of a banana
  • ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seed
  • 1 ½ cups of ice and water mixed
  • 1 scoop of plant-based protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon of hemp seed

Directions:

  • Mix all ingredients in a blender

*Modifications

  • 1 cup of spinach (any green leafy vegetable)
  • 1 pear (any fruit)
  • ½ of a banana (1 whole banana)
  • ¼ cup of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seed
  • 1 ½ cups of ice and water mixed
  • 1 scoop of plant-based protein powder
  • 1 teaspoon of hemp seed

Time saving tip- Double or triple the recipe and have enough for 2-3 days.
